V & A poster //
Poster for an exhibition at the
V&A museum about forgotten
and neglected arts, inspired by
the music of the jazz musician
Dave Brubeck and the
constructivist graphic designer
Anton Stankowski. After the
explosion of consumerism and
mass production, machines
and foreign production has
almost lead to a demise of the
handmade and crafted. In the
poster I was particularly eager
to express this demise. The
white shapes conveys the
beauty of the hand crafted, but
simultaneously triggers curiosity
and confusion as these shapes
most likely no longer exist in
ones visual memory. The crafted
objects might be forgotten,
neglected and fading like
blackouts in our memories, as
mass-produced has occupied
the spaces in ones minds were
the locally crafted used to be.
